This section is all about the wonderful people in which I surround myself. These people are all pivotol to me and my success.
Family:
Mom and Dad
My father was born in Providenciales, a small island in Turks and Caicos. He met my mother, who was born in London, England, in college in of all places Florida. After graduation, they married and ended up back in England where my sister and I were born. In 1989, they moved to the United States specifically Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1995, we migrated to Louisville, to which I consider my home.
Both of my parents are incredibly intelligent and educated people. My father has a Master of Divinity (yeah, he's a preacher) and my mother has her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership (which she proudly obtain in 2010 with a 4.0 gpa!). They have been married for 30+ years.
Sister and Brother
Karen, my "older" but 2 years younger sister, is my voice of reason. She's one of those ridiculously intelligent and wise beyond her years people. She also has this uncanny ability to make something beautiful out of absolutely nothing. One may look at a room and see a dismal, barren space but Karen's mind's eye sees it for the potential it has and will work until she brings it into fruition.
She is married to my favorite (and only) brother-in-law William and they have two absolutely gorgeous children Zaria (Zizi) and William Jr (bubby). For much of our lives growing up, my sister and I fought like cats and dogs. Our fights mostly were about her not sharing (or me stealing all of her stuff...depends on how you look at it). But as adults we are pretty close. We have these super intense intellectual conversations which usually are one sided on the intellectual side. We have a common interest in the arts (theater) and decorating.
Kurtis, my brother, was a surprise addition to the family. He is 12 years my junior and between my mother barking orders at him, and my sister and I probing him for information about his teenage life, I'm sure he feels like he's got 3 mothers. He is in high school and is involved in karate and marching band. He's a pretty cool dude and I am excited to see where his life takes him. Growing up, we were thick as thieves...if I went somewhere 9 times out of 10 he was with me. When I went off to college, I missed him dearly. He once asked me while I was away at school "why do have to go so far away to go to school (an hour and a half is a long way away for a 6 year old) when you can stay here with me." *Tear* He's a grown man now (at 14 lol), dating, and learning the ways of life one triumph and mistake at a time.
